Start to finish

A tired, leaking fireplace, put right

Bespoke fireplaces, full chimney refurbishments and a complete start-to-finish service, all handled by our HETAS registered team. Here is how one recent fireplace came together, step by step.

  1. Smoke test

A smoke test revealed smoke escaping through the chimney breast. We stripped out all the old failed pointing and fully re-pointed.

  2. Back to the brick

We removed the existing old log burner and surround to expose the original red brick chamber, deep cleaned decades of soot, then re-pointed the brickwork to bring it back to life.

  3. Liner, pot and cowl

We installed a brand-new 5” 316 flexible flue liner all the way from stove to roof, and fitted a new terracotta chimney pot, capping and a pot-hanging birdguard cowl.

  4. Stove and beam

We finished with an Arada Hamlet Solution 5 Widescreen Eco stove (Defra-approved and Ecodesign ready) and a wide, dark-stained solid oak beam spanning the full chimney breast, the perfect rustic touch.

I recently had the pleasure of using Ash Away Chimney Serves for a full chimney sweep and log burner service, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment they arrived, it was clear they had extensive knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring a thorough and efficient job. Not only did they expertly clean my chimney, but they went above and beyond by reconditioning my log burner, leaving it looking and functioning like new. The attention to detail, professionalism, and care taken throughout the process was outstanding. I highly recommend Ash Away for anyone in need of top-notch chimney and log burner services!

I called Daniel at Ash Away Chimney Services after needing a fast turn around in order to complete on a property I was purchasing in the area. Daniel came round in a few days, provided a sweep of two wood burners, gave a comprehensive inspection and completed a safety report which was needed in order to keep the Sale moving forward. He’s a true professional and a great guy. Will be using Ash Away again for future maintenance. Highly recommended.

I found Ash away chimney service online when looking for a local chimney sweep. I messaged and he got back to me straight away to make an appointment. Gave me an estimate which is always good to know the cost beforehand. Turned up when he said he would and did a great job of covering everywhere up so there was no mess. Did a really good job and would definitely recommend. His work mate Wilma was an added bonus
